How to choose the perfect Hamptons bedside table

When selecting the perfect bedside tables for your space you will need to consider 4 factors: size, material, style and finish.

Size

When it comes to bedside table choice, the first factor should always be size. Make sure you measure your space accurately starting with your bed and the space left to either side.  You should also consider the height of the bedside. As ensemble and bedhead heights have increased over time, it's an easy mistake to buy a bedside table that is too low.   We recommend the bedside height be similar to the height of your bed or ideally even a little higher making it easy to reach and also offsetting the scale of the bedhead.

Material & Finish

There are several bedside material choices such as timber, rattan, metal on the market but our Hamptons range focuses on timber bedsides in finishes which will last the test of time. Remember that Hamptons style is a clean and crisp style so you should avoid any coloured bedsides and bright colours.  Your furniture finish choices should be simple and you can let your soft furnishing, decor and artwork bring in colour. Satin White - White is always a winner as it looks fresh all year around and lightens up any space. The majority of our customers choose our satin white bedsides which will be nice and fresh for any space. Remember to avoid any hints of cream. The satin white is easy to clean unlike many rustic white finishes on the market. 

Whitewashed Oak - Made from American Oak, our whitewashed oak finish is a neutral tone with a whitewash over the top which settles nicely into the grain. This finish provides a lovely warmth and casual coastal feel. You can feel the grain throughout this finish.

Weathered Oak - Made from American Oak, our weathered oak finish is cool toned as it has a grey wash over the top. This finish is beautiful for a classic style home or if you have grey tones in your flooring and paint colour. You can feel the grain throughout this finish.

Style & Practicality

Another difficult decision to make is what style of bedside you would like to choose  and also what your storage needs are. Our Hamptons range of bedsides give a wide range of choice with some being quite traditional and others being more modern perfect for a more modern home. We are also surprised how storage needs vary so drastically from customer to customer. Those without walk in robes or ample storage look for as many drawers as possible, whilst others want no storage whatsoever as they know it will end up with lots of junk.  Our most popular option at the moment is a combination of drawer and open space.
